Important Information About AGM Batteries

It is short for the word AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat). It is known as impregnated glass fiber in Turkish. Developed due to the insufficient performance of conventional batteries, AGM batteries have a longer service life than other batteries. They are produced from fiberglass mat so that the battery in the battery does not spill. Thanks to the fiberglass mat, the sulfuric acid is quickly absorbed and the battery is prevented from spilling.

In the development of AGM batteries, conventional batteries were insufficient in terms of performance when used in airplanes and vehicles due to their weight and poor safety conditions. AGM batteries are lighter in weight than flooded lead batteries. It has a wide usage area due to its high security standards.

The durability of AGM batteries, which do not require frequent charging, is one of the advantages of using this battery. AGM batteries are used in many places from racing cars to caravans and even boats. It is safer to use than other batteries and maintenance of AGM batteries is much less when used efficiently and properly.

-AGM batteries should never be partially charged. If partially charged, they lose their ability to charge up to their maximum charge capacity over time. For example, if you charge it up to 75% continuously, it may not go above that level after a certain time, which reduces the life of the battery.

-Store your battery in cool, dry places with good ventilation.

-You should charge your battery in the correct temperature intervals. The length of the charging time varies depending on the ambient temperature where the battery is located. The ambient temperature can be conveniently charged up to 40-45 degrees. However, if the ambient temperature exceeds these degrees, the charging process should be stopped. Otherwise, your battery may be damaged.

-A fully discharged AGM battery should be recharged as soon as possible. The thing to note here is that it is fully charged.

-Use only chargers recommended by the manufacturer. You should take care that your charger complies with the amperage values written on your battery. You should use chargers with sufficient voltage.

-AGM battery should not be overcharged. Overcharging can damage the structural components of your battery. Just like undercharging, it can affect the life of your battery.

-The battery's ability to hold charge is affected by sulfation. When you do not give your battery a full charge, sulphation may occur on the plates of the battery. To mitigate this effect, you must use the correct charger. You should also make sure that your AGM battery is fully charged during and before storage.

To prolong the life of your AGM battery, you should pay attention to the above.

AGM batteries can show efficient and high performance in cold weather conditions. It is resistant to vibrations and the risk of leakage is very low, even in very severe shocks. AGM batteries are low cost and can be used in workplaces and many areas due to their reliability. Since they can be charged in a short time, they can be preferred by everyone.
