Electric Forklift Battery Replacement

Information About Electric Forklift Batteries
Electric forklifts play a crucial role in making your work more efficient and faster in factories. Lithium batteries used in forklifts do not require maintenance like lead batteries. In addition, lithium batteries are safe and do not emit any dangerous gases while being charged. It is very important to buy batteries that fit your needs. You should not choose products that are below the standards. A good lithium battery will meet your needs for a long time. You should buy your products from a company that has certificates, patents and guarantees.

Electric forklifts have different dimensions and load capacities. Therefore, when choosing batteries, remember that battery sizes and capacities will be different. You should choose a battery taking into account the characteristics of your forklift. If you buy a battery that exceeds the maximum weight requirement for your forklift, you are likely to add unnecessary load to some components of the equipment. Performance may be adversely affected as a result and the manufacturer's warranty may be voided.

You should contact the company from which you will buy the battery, or if they have a battery suitable for you, you should buy it or you should have a special battery design suitable for your forklift and buy it accordingly. Consideration should also be given to aspects such as cable length, connecting cable location, weight requirements and compartment dimensions. The battery acts as a counterweight to the weight of the forklift, ensuring that the forklift is in a stable position. You cannot get a battery that weighs less than the minimum required. Because in this case, the balance of the forklift will be disturbed and it may cause safety problems.

Lithium-ion batteries require a higher investment in terms of initial cost, but they become more economical over time thanks to the advantages they create. These savings include no maintenance costs, up to 3 times longer operating life, and a 30 to 50 percent reduction in energy use. For lead-based batteries, the cost increases over the lifetime.

If we list the advantages of using a lithium-ion battery;

-Lithium-ion batteries last up to 3 times longer than lead-acid batteries. It is one-to-one in terms of durability, especially in factories with a shift working system.

-Lithium batteries take up less space than lead-acid batteries. (1/4 ratio)

-Lithium batteries are environmentally friendly, have high efficiency, so they have low energy consumption and a long service life.

-Lithium batteries can be charged at any time without waiting for the battery to run out. It can be charged in your vehicle while you are resting, thanks to its fast charging during break times in factories.

-Battery Management System (BMS) monitors values such as current, voltage, temperature and state of charge. When the optimal values are exceeded, it intervenes and protects the system. If there is a short circuit, it will cut the current. It provides protection against over-temperature and overcharging. No dangerous gas is released during charging.

Users of lead-acid batteries should be aware of sulfation. This is a chemical process that can cause a lead acid battery to fail. In order to avoid this situation, the electrolyte water level must be maintained. This water level should be checked from time to time and distilled water should be added if it decreases. This is how the life of lead-acid batteries can be preserved. Especially in factories and workplaces with more than one forklift, the cost of this should be considered. This water addition process contains specific instructions and should be done by professionals. Lead-acid batteries are time-consuming and expensive to maintain. Maintenance conditions for lithium batteries are much simpler and cost less.
